About Ambal’s Blog

What does Ambal’s Amusings mean?

Amusings is a pun on two words – muse and amusing.

In Greek and Roman mythology, the Muses were nine goddesses who symbolized the arts and sciences. Today, a muse is a person who serves as an artist’s inspiration. As a verb, to muse is to consider something thoughtfully. As a noun, it means a person — especially a woman — who is a source of artistic inspiration.

Amusing, as a verb means – to hold the attention of someone pleasantly; entertain or divert in an enjoyable or cheerful manner.

I write about what I find amusing and I hope you’ll find it amusing as well.

What to expect from this blog?

In every aspect of my life, I am a maverick. That holds good for blogging as well.

I break all the cardinal rules for blogging. I don’t follow an editorial calendar. There is no common theme for the blog. I write about many topics that kindle my interest – marketing, business, parenting, photography, books, culture, traditions and more.

I am glad you are reading this page and considering joining me on my journey. Click subscribe if you would like to follow my wild ride.  Ambal’s Blog – Start Here.

Where do I start?

If you are wondering where to start, I encourage you to go through this post – Select Quotes from Blog Posts and Photo-Essays. It gives you a flavor of my writing style and my world- and life-view.

Why do you write?

That is a very tough question to answer. It is sort of like asking me “Why do you climb mountains?” The answers are so multi-dimensional. It is hard to capture them all.

But, I have tried my best to answer this question in several parts – Part 1 – Paying it ForwardPart 2 – Finding Meaning and When I Write.

Who are some of these people mentioned in blog posts?

Kumar – My Husband
Adi – My first son
Ari – My second son
Rainbow – My dog. She is a border-collie and lab mix.
