Dakshinayanam Sunset Light

Last weekend, the sunset light peered into our kitchen. The lighting was gorgeous. I found an unwilling model (my son Ari) to pose for me. I bribed him with cookies and milk to help me capture the lighting change on a beautiful Dakshinayanam evening.

Dakshinayanam or Dakshinayana  is the period during which each sunrise is just a little more to the south. Uttarayanam or Uttarayana Punya Kalam is the period during which each sunrise is just a little more to the north.

Traditionally, Uttarayanam is from Mid-Jan to Mid-July and Dakshinayanam from Mid-July to Mid-Jan.
